Welcome to Cybercache

mint caches · solve riddles · claim on-chain

Cybercache is an on-chain treasure hunt where every player is both creator and explorer. Mint a password-locked cache, hide it behind a riddle, and watch others race to solve it or go hunt the caches other players have hidden across the community.

Every cache holds two treasures. 01theLogbook is a permanent guestbook where solvers sign their names. 02theBin is a shared NFT pool where you deposit art or collectibles and draw a random one back in return. Leave something, take something. On-chain.

New to web3? That's the point. Cybercache teaches real blockchain lessons inside a game that's actually fun to play. Your actions are final. Interactions are public. Competition is transparent.

Play for prestige, not profit. The ♛ First-to-Find crown is the grail; everything after it is casual completion, and that's by design. Enter the Cybercache ranks and begin the hunt.

Continue? Terms & Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Cybercache, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the Game.

2. What Cybercache Is

Cybercache is a blockchain-based social puzzle game on Base where:

  • You create password-locked riddle caches and solve others' caches
  • You earn a soulbound NFT for each cache you create
  • You can deposit collectible NFTs into a shared community pool and receive a random NFT back in return
  • Your progress, solves, and community contributions are permanent on-chain records

3. Non-Refundable Mint Fee

Minting a cache costs exactly 5 USDC. This fee is non-refundable under all circumstances, including if your cache is later frozen, burned, or abandoned. You assume all the risks of the transaction.

Important: The USDC required is native Circle-issued USDC on Base. Bridged or wrapped versions of USDC are not accepted.

4. NFT Pool Deposits = Community Contribution

When you deposit an NFT into theBin, you are permanently contributing that NFT to a shared pool. In return, you earn the right to one random draw from the pool of a collectible NFT selected from whatever other players have contributed.

You cannot retrieve your original NFT. The draw you receive may be the same NFT, more valuable, or less valuable. This is a feature of the mechanic, not a bug. Deposits are final and irreversible.

Whitelist restrictions limit which NFT collections can be deposited, ensuring the pool contains only approved, legitimate collectibles, not spam or low-quality tokens.

5. Soulbound Cache NFTs

Each cache you create is minted as a soulbound NFT. A permanent, non-transferable record tied to your wallet forever. You cannot sell, trade, or transfer your caches. They are proof of authorship and contribution to the Game, not tradeable assets.

6. Blacklist & Moderation

The cacheCreator (game operator) reserves the right to blacklist any wallet for abuse, including (but not limited to):

  • Unlock spamming or brute-force attempts
  • Exploiting or attempting to exploit smart contract vulnerabilities
  • Abusive or hateful logbook entries
  • Other violations of the Game's spirit or rules

A blacklisted wallet is locked out of all Game functions: minting, unlocking, logbook writes, deposits, and withdrawals. Blacklists may be reversed at the sole discretion of the cacheCreator.

7. Smart Contracts Are Non-Upgradeable

The Cybercache smart contracts cannot be upgraded or patched. Any bug, vulnerability, or unintended behavior in the contracts is permanent and irreversible. You use the contracts at your own risk and accept all losses that may result from contract defects.

8. No Warranty; Use at Your Own Risk

The Game is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. The cacheCreator makes no representations about:

  • Uptime, availability, or uninterrupted access
  • The fairness, accuracy, or security of the VRF randomness for pool draws
  • The preservation of your data, caches, or progress
  • Recovery of lost private keys or wallet access
  • The stability or continued operation of Base network

9. Wallet & Key Custody

You are solely responsible for:

  • Protecting your private keys or wallet credentials
  • All transactions and actions taken from your wallet
  • All losses due to theft, loss, or unauthorized access to your wallet

The cacheCreator cannot and will not recover lost keys or reverse unauthorized transactions.

10. Gas Fees & Blockchain Costs

All on-chain transactions require payment of gas fees in ETH (Ethereum's native token, used on Base). The game was built on Base for the best chance at the cheapest gas possible with the easiest entry. You are responsible for:

  • Understanding that gas fees are variable and determined by Base network demand, not by Cybercache or the cacheCreator
  • Providing sufficient ETH in your wallet to cover gas costs for every transaction (minting, unlocking, deposits, withdrawals, logbook entries)
  • The gas cost of a failed transaction (reverted or rejected): you still pay gas even if the transaction fails

The cacheCreator is not responsible for gas cost fluctuations. If Base or Ethereum's network becomes congested, gas fees may spike unexpectedly. You accept all gas costs as a condition of using the Game on Base.

11. VRF Randomness & Pool Draws

Draws from theBin use Chainlink's VRF (Verifiable Random Function) oracle for provably fair randomness. Every draw is verifiable on-chain. The cacheCreator makes no guarantee about the outcome of any draw. You accept all results, even if the returned NFT differs significantly in value from what you contributed.

12. Base Network Risks

Cybercache operates on Base, an Ethereum Layer 2 network. You acknowledge the following risks:

  • Base is maintained by Coinbase and Optimism; changes to the Base network are outside the cacheCreator's control
  • Bridge risks: moving assets to or from Base involves bridge contracts, which carry their own security risks
  • Layer 2 risks: while Base is secure, all Layer 2 networks carry technical risks inherent to their design

The cacheCreator is not responsible for losses due to Base network failures, bridge exploits, or Layer 2 vulnerabilities.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted, the cacheCreator is not liable for:

  • Any loss of funds, NFTs, or data
  • Any bugs or exploits in the smart contracts
  • Downtime of the website or backend
  • Loss of access to your wallet or account
  • Failures, exploits, or outages of the Base network, Chainlink VRF, or bridge services
  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

14. Changes to Terms

The cacheCreator reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes are effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Game constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

15. Termination

The cacheCreator reserves the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the Game at any time, for any reason, including (but not limited to) violation of these Terms.
